| | "Slammin' Summer Sports" (Kids) The City of Fairfield Community Services Department presents a FREE "Slammin' Summer Sports" Program Monday, June 13 through July 11, 2008 from noon to 5:00 p.m. daily, Mondays through Thursdays. The program is held at Grange Middle School and is for boys and girls ages 12-17. This exciting FREE program keeps kids fit this summer while they make new friends and improve their soccer and basketball skills by playing scrimmages and games. Lessons are included. FREE lunch or snacks provided daily. A Lifeskills® class will be offered each day from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. and a free pizza lunch will be served for participants. This program is sponsored by ATOD, Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Prevention. Register in the gym at Grange Middle School at 1935 Blossom Avenue. | | Rush Ranch Nature Center Grand Opening (Outdoor Fun) The Rush Ranch Nature Center Grand Opening is now open at Rush Ranch in Suisun City. The Nature Center includes a multi-purpose room, a science lab, offices, field steward residence, and guest quarters. The center is powered principally by solar and wind energy. The 2,070-acre Rush Ranch was acquired by the Trust in 1986 and is home to rare and endangered plant and animal species. It is the largest brackish water marsh in the United States. In addition to the new Nature Center, the property has numerous historical buildings, including a barn, blacksmith house, water tower, and a circa 1930 Sears & Roebuck kit house.
